JG-TC www.jg-tc.com i Riddle Elementary School celebrates Veterans Day C3 SATURDAY, DCCEMCrR 15,2012 11VL 1 MATTOON Students and staff welcomed family and friends to honor and thank veterans during an annual parade through the hallways of Riddle Elementary School. Students were asked to express what Veterans Day meant to them. Shown are samples of their sincere and heartfelt responses: "Veterans Day is to show the veterans we love them. I love the flags." This is a time where families of the program come to the school for an evening event full of fun and educational activities. Each family night Is designed to be Interactive for the children and their families. For example, In October there was a fall theme. This Included making pumpkin pie In a bag (measuring and counting skills), bowling, using a pumpkin In place of a ball (gross motor skills), creating candy corn patterns (cognitive and math skills), and decorating fall wreaths (fine motor skills).

Submitted photo Students at Williams Elementary celebrate Thanksgiving Feast MATTOON The kindergartners at Williams Elementary celebrated Thanksgiving with their very own feast on Nov. 21. They enjoyed chicken legs from Lee's, bread and butter, grapes, apple juice, and a turkey treat that they made by themselves. Students were dressed in pUgrira and Native American costumes.

Jan Daily, music teacher, led the students in singing three songs about Thanksgiving. To conclude the feast, Kris Maleske, principal, read the story "The Night Before Thanksgiving" by using a slide show of the book that was prepared by Mrs. Burton, librarian. m1 111 1.
