The specialty services provided at the current clinic building will include allergy, cardiology, colon and rectal surgery, endocrinology, infectious disease and more. The new building will be 32,000 square feet on a single level, while the current clinic is on three levels with a total of 27,000 square feet, Good The new clinic is expected to be completed in about a year and will be 5,000 square feet larger than the current facility, according to physician Robert Good, the clinic's medical director. "We're basically trying to have a place to grow for rural health care," he said. Work has already started on the new location immediately north of the Showplace 10 movie theater.

Carle bought that land two years ago. Good said the clinic's primary services will move to the new facility and the current clinic building, which was built in 1992, will be used for specialty services. In about the last 15 years, use of the clinic has roughly doubled to about 65,000 patient visits a year, Good said. "It takes a lot of effort to find space for all the services we have," he said. There are 50 medical providers and about 50 additional employees at the clinic now.

Good said it hasn't been determined if more workers will be needed at the new facility, but he "suspects" that will be the case. Associates say Petraeus shocked to hear of emails BY KIMBERLY DOZIER and PETE YOST The Associated Press TAMPA, Fla. CIA Director David Petraeus was shocked to learn last summer that his mistress was suspected of sending threatening emails warning another woman to stay away from him, former staff members and friends told The Associated Press Monday. Petraeus told these associates his relationship with the second woman, Tampa socialite Jill Kelley, was pla-tonic, though his biogra- pher-turned-lover Paula Broadwell apparently saw her as a romantic rival. Retired Gen. Petraeus also denied to these associates that he had given Broadwell any of the sensitive military information alleged to have been found on her computer, saying anything she had must have been provided by other commanders during reporting trips to Afghanistan.

The associates spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to publicly discuss the matters, which could be part of an FBI -investigation. Petraeus, who led U.S. military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan, resigned his CIA post Friday, acknowl- edging his extramarital affair with Broadwell and expressing deep regret. New details of the investigation that brought an end to his storied career emerged as President Barack Obama hunted forary new CIA director and members of Congress questioned why the months-long probe was kept quiet for so long. Kelley, the Tampa woman, began receiving harassing emails in May, according to two federal law enforcement officials.

They, too, spoke only on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the matter. The emails led Kelley to report the matter, eventually triggering the investigation that led Petraeus to resign as head of the intelligence agency. FBI agents traced the alleged cyber harassment to Broadwell, the officials said, and discovered she was exchanging intimate messages with a private gmail See PETRAEUS, A2 Kevin KilhoflerStatl Photographer Children shake hands with Charleston VTW Post 1592 member Dale Downs after the Veterans Day ceremony on the Courthouse Square in Charleston on Monday. Charleston youth take in Veterans Day ceremony BY DAVE FOPAY JG-TC Staff Writer MATTOON Living in Georgia, Virginia Janoulis had never heard of Clyde Hood or the Omega Trust and Trading scam that are famous some might say notorious in the Mattoon area. That changed last month, though.

Janoulis still doesn't know why, but she received correspondence that claimed she was the recipient of "units" or shares from Omega. What's more, the letters didn't come from Mattoon or even from Illinois. They instead came from a woman in Montana. Janoulis doesn't know anyone living in Montana, either. Why does she think she received the material? "I don't have a clue," she said.

That the Omega scam had a reach far outside Illinois isn't anything new. It had victims across the country. What can be seen as more of a surprise is that the correspondence Janoulis received emerged a decade or more after the end of the scam and federal prosecution that followed it. Hood, who died in July, received a 14-year sentence in federal prison in 2002 for developing the Omega scam. In court, he admitted defrauding the victims and that he never had the capabilities to bring them the returns they were promised.

According to the federal indictment that resulted, Hood, a retired Mattoon electrician, and about 20 other people claimed large returns on investments made to foreign banks and off-shore trading operations. The only suspect who wasn't convicted died before his case concluded. The scam operated from 1994 to 2000. Victims were told several times to be patient, that the payoffs from their investments were delayed but still coming, until it ended with the federal charges. The correspondence Janoulis received was from a woman named Cheryl Upshaw.

Notarized documents sent to Janoulis and her husband Jason claimed to assign one "unit" or share of the Omega "benefit package" to each of them. Upshaw also sent them a copy of a $40,000 check she wrote to Hood in May 1998, -though the notarized documents were dated Oct. 3 of this year. Each "unit" of Omega -went for $100, and in the documents Upshaw said she was "granted" 400 units, also in May 1998. Upshaw somehow obtained Janoulis' address in Cumming, near Atlanta, as well as her unlisted home phone number and her cellphone number, all included on the documents.

"I don't know her," Janoulis said. "I've wracked See OMEGA, A2 COMMUNITY CHS recognizes Its brightest Charleston High School announces its honor roll and high honor roll.
