of Charleston collided at 10:19 p.m. May 28 at the intersection of Charleston Avenue and South 6th Street. Abel was ticketed for improper lane usage. Vehicles driven by Elizabeth Coleman of Gays and Marty Bly of 705 S. 17th St.

collided near the exit of the Motomart on South 21st Street and Marshall Avenue at 6:55 p.m. Sunday. A vehicle driven by Joshua Walk of 1108 Bell Ave. struck a car parked on 1109 Bell Ave. at 3:40 p.m.

Sunday. An unknown animal struck the driver's side door of a vehicle driven by Crystal Roley of 1412 Moultrie Ave. at 2:35 a.m. while Roley was traveling eastbound in the 1500 block of DeWitt Avenue. A vehicle driven by Holly Robert P.

Pratte, 1336 Jefferson reported that sometime between June 5 and Wednesday the rear windshield of his vehicle was shattered while the vehicle was parked in front of his residence. James T. Barron, 2627 Krishire Drive, reported that between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday his daughter's vehicle was covered with graffiti made by a marker while the vehicle was parked at his residence.

He also reported that his mailbox was knocked over. Melanie S. Fitt, 1214 Madison reported that between 9 and p.m. Thursday the front windshield of his vehicle was shot by a pellet or BB gun while the vehicle was parked at Charleston Lanes, 1310 E. Charleston fire Fire crews responded to a false alarm at Haz-Store, 855 N.

5th at 11:02 a.m. Saturday. Fire crews responded to the Charleston Community Day Care Center, 2206 4th at 7:37 a.m. Sunday. A power outage set off an alarm.

There was no fire. Coles County sheriff Several guns and an undisclosed amount of cash were taken during a burglary at the Larry W. Bayes residence, 17758 N. Miller of Gays. Mattoon fire Firefighters responded to Old State Village for a medical assistance call at 9:38 p.m. Thursday. Firefighters responded at 10:06 a.m. Saturday to a false fire alarm in the 700 block of South 9th Street.

Firefighters were called to help remove a child's foot from a bicycle chain at 11:49 a.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of Broadway Avenue. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Lockart and Sons Funeral Home in Shelbyville. He was born April 6, 1950, in Decatur, the son of Ansel F. and Mary Humphrey Auburn. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Mary Auburn Stevenson and Jim Stevenson of Shelbyjdllejone daughter, Wendi BrjKh of Jcteob; two brothers, Richard Aubuqi of Chattanooga, and Getty Auburn of Shelbyville; and two grandchil- dre le was preceded in death by hisi Auburn had retired from Diamond Star in Bloomington and was formerly employed at Shelby Tool and Die and Justrite in Mattoon.

Pamela Cox CHARLESTON Pamela Cox, 48, of Charleston, died at 7 a.m. Monday (June 11, 2001) at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Arrangements are incomplete at the Schilling Funeral Home.

Paul Duncan WEST HILLS, Calif. Paul Lawrence Duncan, 91, of West Hills, formerly of Mattoon, died June 1, 2001, at his residence. He was born Aug. 21, 1909, in Coles County, the son of Lawrence and Nellie Ellen Wampler Duncan. He married Paralee Tinsmen in 1930; she died in 1978.

HOWARD WELLER HINDSBORO, ILLINOIS Howard Mason Weller, 79, of Hindsboro died at 2:55 AM iSunday, June 10, 2001 at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at Shrader Funeral Home, '204 N. Locust Street, Areola, with Dick Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Areola Cemetery with military rites by the Areola American Legion and VFW Post. Visitation will be held from PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Weller was born June 22, 1921 in Hindsboro, a son of Charles and Ruth Cuppy Weller. two brothers, Clarence "Chub" Vaughn of Lawrenceville and Thomas A. Vaughn of Janesville; two sisters, Doris Linder and Mary Tucker, both of Charleston; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one great-grand-chiid.

Mr. Vaughn was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and retired as a construction worker. He was a lifetime member of Charleston VFW Post l592ind Charleston Masonic Lodge AFAM35. Marjorie Wirey MARTINSVILLE Marjorie Wirey, 85, of rural Martinsville, died at 5 p.m. Sunday (June 10, 2001) at Heartland Manor Nursing Home in Casey.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Greenwell Funeral Home in Martinsville. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Clark County. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

She was born April 30, 1916, in Martinsville, the daughter of Harry and Lillie Belle Thompson Napier. She married J. Marlin Wirey in 1933; he died in 1965. Surviving are one son, Paul Wirey of Martinsville; one brother, Delbert Napier of Martinsville; and three grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one daughter and one grandchild.

Mrs. Wirey retired from Burnside Nursing Home in Marshall as a dietary aid. She was a member of the Island Grove Baptist Church. Robert Hillerby MATTOON Robert Hillerby, 61, of Mattoon, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday (June, 11, 2001) at his residence. Arrangements are incomplete at the Schilling Funeral Home. Kenneth Ingram INDIANPOLIS Kenneth R.

Ingram, 62, of Indianapolis, died Sunday (June 10, 2001) at the Methodist Hospital. The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Conkle Funeral Home in Lynhurst Chapel, Indianapolis. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m.

Wednesday at the chapel. Surviving are his wife, Theresa A. Woodall; one son, Kenneth Ingram Jr. of Rolling Meadows; three daughters, Rae Lynn Strong and Maria Sibley, both of Fort Worth, Texas, and Michelle White of Indianapolis; three brothers, Gary Ingram of Mattoon, Gene Ingram of Windsor and Charles Ingram of Harrisburg; one sister, Louise Shook of Mattoon; and six grandchildren. Mr.

Ingram was retired from the Indianapolis Business Journal, where he had worked in distribution for 21 years. Robert Smith ORANGE CITY, Fla. Robert R. Smith, 79, of Orange City, formerly of Greenup, died Feb. 12, He married Betty Ramsey in Hendersonville, Kentucky on July 20, 1940.

She survives. Besides his wife Betty, he is survived by 2 sons, Larry Weller of Brooksville, Florida, Dick Weller and wife Linda of Hindsboro; a brother, Norman Weller and wife Joy of Houston, Texas; a sister, Marjorie Harrington and husband Jim of Areola; 3 grandchildren, Wendy Weller of Chicago, Devon Weller and wife Janet of Nashville, Tennessee and Thomas Weller of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mr. Weller was raised on a farm northwest of Hindsboro where he attended Duffle Grade School and completed his education graduating from high school in Hindsboro. He then moved to Connersville, Indiana and built planes during the first part of World War II.

He joined the Navy 2001, in Orange City, Fla. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Greenup Cemetery with military rites. No visitation is planned. The Barkley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Mary 21, 1921, in Mena, the son of Charles and Calla Stanberry Smith. Surviving is one half sister, Louella Hippleheuser of Orange City, Fla. He was preceded in death by one brother. Mr. Smith had retired from Washington National Insurance Co.

in Chicago. He was a charter member of the Greenup VFW. He was in the Coast Guard during World War II and was a member of the American Legion. Charles Vaughn CHARLESTON Charles E. Vaughn, 71, of Charleston, died at 10 a.m.

Sunday (June 10, 2001) at his residence. The funeral will be 10:30 a Wednesday at the Caudill-King Funeral Home. Burial Vaughn will be in Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born Dec. 6, 1929, in Coles County, the son of Charles "Diner" and Mabel Pearcy Vaughn. Surviving are his mother, Mabel Vaughn Cochran of Charleston; two daughters, Deborah Oakley and Diana Vaughn, both of Charleston; and was stationed in California. After his discharge in 1945, he moved back to the Hindsboro area and pursued a farming career at which time he worked as a grain elevator manager for VanGundy Grain, also, worked for Sohigro Fertilizer Company, and worked for Clapp and Ghere Construction in Areola. He was a postal carrier in Tuscola for several years, and then was hired as the Hindsboro Postmaster from 1971 until retiring in 1985.

He was active in 4-H, ASCS, Farm Extension work, Citizen Advisory Council and other local organizations. He was a member of the Kemp Church of Christ. After retirement, he made his home in Brooksville, Florida during the winter and returned to the farm in the summer. He was an avid golfer and always enjoyed his family and friends. Memorials are suggested to the Kemp Church of Christ.
