Journal Gazette--Saturday, July 8, 1989 WEDDINGS Bethea-Weber5 BLOOMINGTON The sanctuary of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church provided the setting for the May 13 wedding of Mary Sue Bethea and R. Gregory Weber. Parents of the couple are Paul and Ellen Bethea of Bloomington and Robert and Lillie Weber of Ashmore. The Rev. John Dietzen performed the 2 p.m.

ceremony. Musical selections included "Sunrise, Sunset" and "Ave Marie" sung by Kim Connor of Bloomington, sister of the bride. Kent Oleson of Bloomington, brother-in-law of the bride, gave a scripture reading. The bride, escorted by her father, wore a long formal gown of poly-satin and lace. The fitted boice with sweetheart open neckline, basque waistline and short bell sleeves was enhanced with hand-sewn pearls and sequins Mr.

Mrs. Allen Venet Forrest-Smitley WATSEKA Candelabra laced with blue and peach flowers and bows decorated the sanctuary of St. Edmund's Catholic Church for the May 27 wedding of Jean Forrest and Blaine Smitley. Their parents are Mr. and Mrs.

Gene Forrest of Watseka and Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Smitley of Ashmore. The Rev. Francis Maher performed the 3 p.m.

double-ring ceremony. Organist Gary Cahoe accompanied Melissa Cahoe as' she sang "Through the Eyes of Love" and "Ave Maria" and in a duet as they sang "Always," "Just You and and "The Gift of Love." The bride, escorted by her father, wore an ivory lace gown adorned with pearls and sequins. It was styled with a Queen Anne neckline, sheer sleeves and basque waistline. The lace appliqued skirt ended with scalloped lace edging and a cathedral-length train. Her on lace motifs.

Parents of the couple are Lavern and Martha Hamand of Charleston, Dianne Venet of Chicago, and the late Harry Venet. The Rev. Will Saunders of the Unitarian-Universalist Church in Urbana-Champaign presided at the double-ring ceremony in the library of the Dudley House, which was decorated with bouquets of daisies, alstroemeria and greenery. Built in the 1890s, the Dudley home is owned by the Coles County Historical Society.

A string quartet of Terry Coulton, Dorothy Kim, Gretchen Tracy and Cathy Ryan played finger-tip length veil was released from a picture hat and she carried a cascade of white roses and stephanotis with baby's breath and greenery. Elizabeth Weldon of Champaign attended her sister as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Janet Forrest of Watseka, sister of the bride; Teresa Smitley of Westfield, sister of the bridegroom; Shelley Smitley of Charleston, sister of the bridegroom; Dawn of Houston, Texas; Susan Pickens of Oak Lawn; Christi Smith of Channahan; and Susan Christensen of Chicago. They wore iridescent royal blue taffeta gowns and carried cascades of peach and white carnations, blue orchids and baby's breath ods word U'to Children in the wedding party included flower girl, Megan Weldon, niece of the bride, and ring bearer, Justin Weldon, nephew of the bride. Keersten Oleson of Bloomington, niece of the bride, was the flower girl and Kevin Connor of Bloomington, nephew of the bride, was the ring bearer. Guests were seated by Steve and Jay Bethea, brothers of the bride and Tom Connor, brother-in-law of the bride, all of Bloomington. A champagne dinner and dance was held at the Crestwicke Country Club.

The bride attended Bloomington schools and is employed by Champion Travel. The bridegroom received his bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University and is employed by Hospital Sisters Health Systems. The le newlyweds reside at 145 Northville Apt. Lincoln. selections from Handel.

The bride and other members of the wedding party descended a mahogany. staircase decorated with greenery, peach colored netting and ribbon. The bride wore a tea-length ivory dress with a fitted bodice, high Victorian neckline and long sleeves accented by Venise lace. The chiffon skirt featured a handkerchief hem and a matching hat trimmed in lace completed her attire. She carried a bouquet of peach roses, lilies and daisies.

Helen Hundley of Lancaster, attended the bride as maid of honor. She wore a tea-length peach gown with a matching hat and carried a bouquet of roses, lilies and daisies. Jeffrey Coletta of Dallas, Texas, served as best man. Carol and Dan Drew, sister and Weldon of Champaign.John Gooding of Sheldon was the best man. Groomsmen and ushers were Robert Smitley of Mahomet, cousin of the bridegroom, Robert and Mark Forrest of Champaign, brothers of the bride, Thomas Weldon of Champaign, brother-inlaw of the bride, Kevin Lottinville of Kankakee, Richard Gross of Watseka and Charles Christensen of Chicago.

A buffet supper and dance reception was held at the Watseka American Legion. The bride, a 1983 graduate of Watseka High School, received her bachelor's degree in 1987 and master's in 1988 from Eastern Illinois University. She is a speech pathologist at the Treatment and Learning Center in Mattoon. A 1981 graduate of Sheldon High School, the bridegroom received his bachelor's degree in 1985 and his master's degree in 1986 at EIU. He is employed at Smitley New Arrivals Moultrie calendar, menu set Megaan Fowler James and Jayme Fowler of Lovington are the parents of a daughter, Megaan Lynne.

She was born at 5:59 a.m. June 18, 1989, and weighed 7 pounds, 2, ounces at birth in Sarah Bush Lin-' coln Health Center. Mr. and Mrs. Fowler are employed at Fayette Tubular Products.

John and Mary LaBrot of Farmington, are the maternal grandparents. William and Marie Fowler of Lovington are the paternal grandparents. Kenneth and Violet Ward of Flat River, Sam and Loveda Fowler and James and Elizabth Fetters, all of Neoga, are the great-grandparents. Grace Gray of Festus, is the infant's great-great-grandmother. Audrey Hardwick Roger and Anita Hardwick of Mattoon are the parents of 9 daughter, Audrey Shea.

She was born at 12:47 June 18, 1989, and weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces at birth in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. She has a sister, Ciara Marie, 3. Hardwick is employed at BlawKnox. Mrs. Hardwick is a hairstylist.

Jo Anne Shoot of Mattoon and Jim Shoot of Neoga are the maternal grandparents. Floyd and Mary Hardwick of Lerna are the paternal grandparents. Lorraine Bixby and Deloris Shoot are the infant's greatgrandmothers. Dirk Davis Gary and Kelly Davis of Lovington are the parents of a son, Dirk Austin. He was born at 1:18 p.m.

Dave Butts officiated at the 2:30 p.m. double-ring ceremony. Donna Williams was the organist. She and Mark Nichols were the vocalists. The bride wore a Victorian style gown and three-tiered veil trimmed with European lace.

She is a medical biller at San Bernadino. A graduate of Kansas High School, the bridegroom attended Eastern Illinois University for two years.

Gregory Weber brother-in-law of the bride, Jeff Hamand, brother of the bride, Elizabeth Tingley, Andrea Weas and Amy Allers assisted the bride and bridegroom by attending the guest book, seating guests and cutting the cake. Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance were held at the Mattoon Holiday Inn. The bride is a 1973 graduate of Charleston High School. She received a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in 1985 and is associate professor of history at Eastern Illinois University.

A graduate of New Trier West High School, the bridegroom completed his law degree at the University of Illinois in 1983 and is a second vice president with the Northern Trust of Chicago. The couple spent their honeymoon in Canada. Mr. Mrs. Blaine Smitley Machine Shop at Ashmore.
