Newspapers- Monday, March 26, 1984 -Records Siren Report Mattoon Police Mattoon woman was injured Saturday in a two-car crash at 19th and Oak. Gloria J. Langley, 34, of 403 W. Park Plaza. was taken to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center after the car she was driving and an auto driven by David A.

Phelps, 30, of Sandoval collided at the Phelps was ticketed for failure to yield to a vehicle on the right. Bradley W. Adkinson, 17, of 905 S. 16th was ticketed for reckless driving after his car struck a parked auto near 15th and Charleston at 9:45 p.m. Friday.

According to a report, Atkinson left the Burger King parking lot and attempted to turn right on 15th when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a parked car owned by Connie Barnd of 134 Westview Drive. An auto driven by Ronald G. Colbert of 1306 S. 4th struck a parked car early Sunday at Lot 185, Old State Village, while Colbert was backing out of a driveway. The parked vehicle is owned by Rick D.

Godden of 913 S. 23rd. Three persons reported their. cars were damaged by hit and run drivers. Yvette A.

Frost of Route 4, Mattoon, said her auto sustained DUI Report damage to the right rear when it was struck Thursday in the Wal-Mart parking lot. An auto owned by Sara B. Hawkins of 1621 Wabash was damaged in the left front while it was parked in the 1900 block of Oak Friday night. A car belonging to Louise Cantwell of 17th and Warren sustained damage to a left door and rear fender when it was struck Saturday while parked in the 2300 block of Marion. Redd, 52, of Charleston, was ticketed Thursday after the car she was driving struck a car driven by Mark A. Garner at 2:53 p.m. According to the report, Redd was pulling out of Wendy's parking lot onto Lincoln Avenue and struck the Garner car. Damage to both vehicles was estimated to be greater than $250. Hinchee, 23, of 1420 DeWitt Avenue, Mattoon, was ticketed at 9:14 a.m. Thursday after the car he was driving struck a car driven by Brenda L. Ard of Charleston. According to the report, Ard was southbound on 4th Street when Hinchee pulled off of Taylor Avenue into the intersection, striking the Ard car. Damage to both vehicles was estimated be in excess of $250.

32nd died at 5:46 p.m. Saturday (March 24, 1984) in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with Rev. Derold Doughty officiating.

Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Charleston. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. He was born March 25, 1937, in Janesville, a of Hugh E. and Burl Orr Drum.

He married Sandra Lynn Toler June 5, 1978, in Mattoon. She survives. Also surviving are six sons, Gary Kevin of Charleston and Charles Larry Wayne, Thomas Lee, Gary Lynn and Shane Allen, all at home; two daughters, Mrs. Eric (Joyce) Scherrinsky of Greenup and Barbara Jean Drum of Effingham; three brothers, Greg 0. and Harold T.

Drum, both of Toledo, and Hugh E. Drum Jr. of Chicago; one half-sister, Mrs. Pamela Hammond of Elkhart, and one granchild. One son and one brother preceded him in death.

Mr. Drum was a truck driver. HOWARD W. CORDTS MATTOON Howard W. "Shorty" Cordts, 60, of 2800 Garfield died at 7:05 a.m.

Sunday (March 25, 1984) in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Schilling's Funeral Home with Rev. John Dexter officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery. He was born July 26, 1923, in Atwood, a son of Walter and Marie Vonlanken Cordts. He married Norma Hopper Dec. 23, 1944, in Mattoon.

She survives. Also surviving are one son, John of Houston, one brother, Robert of Pana; one sister, Mrs. Cleo (Kate) Bilyeu of Moweaqua and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Mr.

Cordts was meat manager at the Good Neighbor IGA and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tuscola. RICHARD WARNER CHARLESTON Richard "Dick" Warner, 51, of 980 18th St. was found dead about 6:50 p.m, Saturday (March 24, 1984) in an auto at the Charleston High School parking lot. Coles County Coroner Dick Lynch said the cause of death has not yet been determined.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Schilling's Funeral Home, Mattoon. He was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Macomb, a son of Charles and Madeline Renchen Zimmer Warner. He martied Nellie Jane Wilson on Nov. 10, 1983, in Charles, ton.

at his brother's home in Oakland. Death was due to apparently accidental carbon monoxide poisoning. Local arrangments are being handled by Shrader Funeral Home, Arcola. Visitation will be from 2 to 3:30 and 7 to 8 p.m. today, with services at 8 p.m.

at the funeral home. Services and burial will be held later at Panteon del Roble Cemetery at Monterrey, N.L., Mexico. He was born Nov. 9, 1964, the son of Jaime and Isabel Cabrera Garza of Arcola. Survivors include the parents; four brothers, Frederico Garza of Mattoon, Raymonzo Garza.

of Oakland, Jaime Garza of Houston, and Juan Garza of Navajoa, Sonora, Mexico; four sisters, Rosario Barrientos, Herlinda Garza and Graciela Garza, all Arcola, and Gloria Cabrera of Chihuahua, Mexico. He is also survived by grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frederico Cabrera of Navajoa, Sonora, Mexico, and Ramundo Garza of Monterrey, Mexico. Garza was employed by Lipman Broom Company in Arcola and was a member of the Arcola Church of the Nazarene.

MARY HARVEY TOLEDO Mrs. Mary Ruth Harvey, 84, of Milton, formerly of Neoga, died at 8 a.m. Saturday (March 24, 1984) in Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Ky. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Barkley Funeral Home, Toledo, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m.

Tuesday in the Mound Cemetery Chapel, Charleston. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Resthaven Cemetery, Mattoon. The Harper-Swickard Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. He was born Oct.

16, 1923, in Albion, a son of Grover C. and Ada Reid Bond. He married Margery Gray Feb. 6, 1943, in St. Charles, Mo.

She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Susan Rose) of Chattanooga, his mother of Memphis, one brother, Robert of Joplin; and one sister, Mrs. Wilma of Memphis. Mr.

Bond was co-owner of the IGA grocery stores at Attica, Covington, Fowler and Demott, Ind. He was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University and an Air Force veteran of World War II during which he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters as a fighter pilot. Mr. Bond was a member of the Community Baptist Church of Veedersburg, Eagles Club of Attica; Harrison Hills Country Club, American Legion and VFW of Covington; and Elks Lodge of Charleston. Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund or Community Baptist Church of Veedersburg.

GLENDA HOLT WINDSOR Glenda Joyce Ramsey Holt, 28, of Windsor died at 1:55 a.m. Saturday (March 24, 1984) in Sarah Bush Lincoln -Health Center. Death was due to natural causes. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor, where friends may call one hour prior to the services.

Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery. She was born Jan. 18, 1956, in Shelbyville, a daughter of John and Ramona Ramsey. Surviving are three daughters; her father of Windsor; two sisters, Frances Scott and Linda Pierre, both of Houma, and her grandfather, Harley Mummel of Neoga. Mrs.

Holt was a member of the Windsor Christian Church. Wood Services CHARLESTON The funeral of Mrs. Madeline Wood was held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Caudill-King Funeral Home with Rev. John Bavroch and Rev.

Gary Barnes officiating. Burial was in Reshaven Cemetery, Mattoon. Mrs. James Cox was the organist. Mrs.

Gary Barnes sang "If That Isn't Love" and Rev. Bavroch sang "Fill My Cup Lord." Pallbearers were Darrell Reinbolt, Dave Dillon, Gaylin Lack, Lowell O. Gillespie, James Cox and Tim Yow. Mrs. Wood, 71, of Charleston died March 22, 1984.

MAURICEE. FOREMAN CHARLESTON Maurice E. Foreman, 79, of 1139 Buchanan, Charleston, died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday (March 25, 1984) from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m.

Tuesday at the Caudill-King Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. John McFarland officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Charleston.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. He was born Jan. 30, 1905, in Coles County, the son of Everett and Nettie (Stephenson) Foreman. He married Thelma Ryan on Jan. 26, 1929, in Springfield.

She survives. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Mrs. Rick (Sherrie) Lane, Mrs. Jay (Kristie) Thompson and Miss Cathy Foreman, all of Harrisburg; and one great Paul Foreman Lane of Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by one son, Paul, in 1978.

Mr. Foreman was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and the Illinois High School Association, the Retired Teachers Association and the Eastern Illinois Alumnae Association. He served in several central Illinois schools as a teacher, coach and principal. Before his retirement in 1975, he was assistant to the regional superintendent of schools. Rodda Services CHARLESTON The funeral for Mrs.

Velma Hughes Rodda was held at 9 p.m. Friday at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home. Services also were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Redinius Funeral Home, Gilman, with Rev. Bill Boaz officiating.

Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston. Mrs. Rodda, 83, died March 17, 1984, in the Americana Nursing Home, Urbana. Services MATTOON The funeral of Mrs. Montie Leona West was held p.m.

Saturday in the Mitchel Funeral Home with Pastor Virgil Baker and Pastor George Fritschle officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery. Mrs. Greg Nash sang "When the Roll Is Called up Yonder" and "In the Sweet By and By." Mrs. James Colley was the organist.

Pallbearers were Cecil, Richard, Harold, Jesse and Cecil Osborn Jr. and Bob Morton. Mrs. West, 73, of 1609 Platt died March 22, 1984, in Burnham City Hospital, Champaign..
