Cards name Thompson to manage Arkansas ST. LOUIS (UPI) Tommy. Thompson Tuesday was named manager of the Arkansas Travelers of the Texas League by the parent St. Louis Cardinals. Thompson, who had been a player instructor for the entire Cardinal farm system, switches jobs with Buzzy Keller, who was serving his first year as Arkansas manager.

Thompson, 29, played with Cardinal farm teams from 1967 to 1974 and was named a Cardinal instructor last December. Keller, 43, joined the St. Louis organization last season and managed the Cardinal farm team at Johnson City to the Appalachian State League championship.
