Has the Union tried every possible method of securing a contract with this employer BEFORE calling this strike? Yes, after many unsuccessful meetings we even called in the Federal Mediation Service (a U. S.

Govt agency) to help us settle with the MY STORE owner. What conditions exist in the My Store TODAY? To briefly answer the questions we contend that wages are ten years behind the times, working conditions leas than Union Standards, inadequate vacation plan, an inadequate health and welfare program, no recognition for length of service, no seniority rights, no premium pay for night work, plus many more major infringements on employee rights. Are your groceries cheaper in the My Store due to their low wages? Our investigations disclose and we contend that, prices in the MY STORE are comparable, and sometime higher than other stores in town that ARE paying union wages. Does the United Retail Workers Union advocate strike action by members? Absolutely not, except as a last resort effort to prevent hard working and deserving members from, as we contend, being discriminated against by an employer who we contend refuse to share the profits that his em-jloyres help him earn. Is there a chance for an early settlement of this dispute? That is entirely up to Mr.

Podeachi. The U. R. W. has offered many useable concessions in order to prevent this strike, however, we contend, Mr.

Podeachi has refused to yield on many major items of importance to our members, This strike may last one day or a year, however the unioa stands ready to meet with the MY STORE owner at any time to discuss a settlement Will the striking My Store employees lose money during this strike? Absolutely not, the striking employee will be paid full salary by the U. R. W. Union during the entire strike. Not one U.

R. W. member has ever lost one dime due to a strike. The above are a few of the basic reason why we atk every citizen in this area to help us win this battle for the Taylorville MY STORE employees. More detailed information will be published in the very near future.
