i MAN AlmVMIAN HELD ON A BOOZE CHARGE Mrs. Luln Moore, 1523 "Broadway, and Clyde McGaughey pleaded guilty before Judge Branan In police court this morning to possessing and transporting liquor and were bound over for grand Jury action. Ball was fixed tt 1500 each. The woman's Ibnd was signed by her husband, Elza Moors, and (ieorge A. Klzer.

McGsughey wss placed under arrest Tuesday on suspicion of being Implicated In liquor transportation. Meanwhile, the finding of a quantity of liquor under a bridge southeast of the city wee reported to the police. This led Chief Brim berry to believe that McGaughey knew something about the booxe. He was releasod and watched. He was seen going In the direction of where the liquor was hidden.

Police were hiding nearby and ss McGaughey left the place, he was met by a woman In. an automo- bile and both were placed under ar rest. The woman, the police said, was Mrs. Moore, who owned the car she was driving. and Mrs. Reuben Swengel had a narrow escape from death here last night sbout 7:30 when an Illinois Central train, switching in the yards, backed Into their automobile on the north croasing. Mr. and Mrs. Swengel had been out in the country and were qn their way home.

Seeing the train, which consisted of an engine and a few cars, Swengel thought It was gotagnorth and started to the tracks. The train, however, was moving south and bit their car. Mrs. Swengel was slightly bruised, while her husband, who was driving the car, escaped uninjured. Both were thrown from the car.

The automobile was badly wrecked.
