1 WWWJG-TCCOM FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2014 9 SECTION CI 'f House can be sold without using a real estate agent if-BRUCE WILLIAMS Jfl spy -1 DEAR BRUCE: I will be selling my home next year to take a better job. Do I have to use a real estate agent to sell my home? Reader DEAR READER: Absolutely not! You can handle the transaction completely yourself and save yourself a commission that can amount to thousands of dollars. On the other side of that, it may well be that the market is a little tight where you are, and you can use the professional help. You can switch over from selling it yourself to using a Realtor at any time. DEAR BRUCE: My son is 18 years old and enrolled in college.

He currently plays an online game where he makes about $1,500 a week through streaming. Family and friends have told him that he has to go to college and study accounting because he "needs skills to make money," and he needs to socialize with other college kids and grow. Online gaming won't last forever. It usually fades out by age 26. Should he go to college and try to do the online game part-time, or should he hold off on going to college and build his savings? Reader DEAR READER: Stop right there! If what you say is possible, for goodness sake, why in the world would you stop him? In the event that he is making $1,500 one week and losing $500 the next, that's a different matter all together.

I am taking you at your word that he is consistently knocking out $1,500 a week. That's impressive! You mentioned his family and friends have told him to study accounting because he "needs skills to make money." I don't know if that is true, but there is no reason he can't go to college. I am not sure what you mean by "online gaming won't last forever." There are many online gaming "opportunities" that will take a little different form from time to time, but the basic skills necessary to come out on top remain constant. At $1,500 a week, I wouldn't hold off a day. There is no reason why he can't go to school, too, earn a degree and hopefully pick up an education.

Two former Midas shops now part of Inyart Tire Auto CHARLESTON On Wednesday, John Inyart brought his two local tire and auto repair shops under the umbrella of his new independent repair company Inyart Tire Auto Center. Previously, the shops at 1300 Charleston Ave. in Mattoon and 515 Lincoln Ave. in Charleston were a part of the Midas national brand franchise. Inyart said he sees this latest change as an opportunity to provide even more personalized service and to focus on the communities in which he and his team live and work.

Inyart Tire Auto Center has new phone numbers, but has the same familiar faces working in both shops and the same award-winning service. Asked what he likes most about being in the car repair business, Inyart talked about the importance of personalized customer service. staff will provide top quality products and car care services through affiliations with Bridgestone-Firestone for tires, Valvoline for oil services, and NAPA through the NAPA Auto Care Program. Customers with existing warranties can have their cars serviced and maintained at Inyart Tire Auto Center, as previous warranties will be honored. "Putting the customer first is how we built our reputation for exceptional customer loyalty and reliable service.

That is one thing that isn't going to change," Inyart said. Inyart invites current and prospective customers to visit the new Inyart Tire Auto Center website to see the breadth of products and services offered, find helpful car tips or schedule an appointment online at www. inyart.com. They can also make an appointment by calling the Charleston location at 217-345-3331 or the Mattoon location at 217-235-3331. "It's not just fixing the car -that's often the easy part," Inyart said.

"We encourage our team to see the real problem. How can we work with our customers' schedules and responsibilities to minimize the impact of temporarily being without their car? Sometimes it means a ride home for our 'seasoned' citizens, and other times it means driving a contractor to his job site so he can work, while we fix his truck." For more than 24 years, Inyart and his team of managers and technicians have handled the automotive repair, tire, and car maintenance needs of customers throughout East Central Illinois. Area drivers have experienced his focus on quality and reliability first-hand as customers of his former Midas national brand franchise shops.
